An essential skill for any prepper is basic first aid skills. This skill set is so important that every competent member of your group should have the proper training from the very basics to CPR and beyond. Luckily there are plenty of resources the prepper can look into, some of which are free. We’ve listed some of these resources below.

American Red Cross

The American Red Cross offers a wide variety of low cost first aid classes that anyone can take in almost every community, and they go beyond traditional first aid and CPR classes. Preppers can also find specialized classes that are also quite useful, such as Wilderness survival, swimming and water safety, and more.  The American Red Cross is listed first, as it’s the most comprehensive resource available for learning different types of survival and aid skills across a wide array of areas. You’ll be able to learn everything from treating Hypothermia and burns to properly administering medicine and preparing for disasters. The best part is, it’s not expensive at all; you can take most of the available courses for less than $100 each.

CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) training is available in many communities across the United States and is offered for free to interested citizens. This program is generally taught by a local fire department and includes excellent first aid training as well as disaster response training. It is truly a must do training for your emergency preparations.
