Nagoya UT-72 Dual-Band Magnetic Mount Antenna
HAM radio operation using a handheld HAM radio inside a car is really non-existent. Half of your signal is lost by being in your enclosed vehicle. In addition to this, your rubber duck antenna is limited to barely any decibel gain. What is that going to do for you? In response, your handheld radio is very useless while located inside a car. To combat this lack of signal in your car, we suggest bringing that signal outside the vehicle. The best way to do that is by having an external antenna. With the Nagoya UT-72 Dual-Band Magnetic Mount Antenna you not only get the antenna outside, but you also get a sizeable increase in power.
The Dual-Band nature of this antenna enables you to communicate on both the 2 meter and the 70 centimeter frequencies without switching out antennas. In addition to the two bands that this antenna works with, you also have an extra pig tail adapter. This adapter connects between the PL-259 plug and the SMA antenna adapter that you have on your handheld radio. This means that you can use this antenna for more devices instead of just your handheld radio. In fact we have a BaoFeng Tech amplifier that can attach to this antenna using the PL-259 connector.
For most of the handheld radios out there, the attached antenna only provides around 2 decibels of gain. However, with this car antenna, connecting up to your radio provides you up to 4 decibels of gain. In other words, you can reach farther and communicate over longer distances. You can be fishing at the lake and talking to your buddy fishing at the stream miles away.
